Carolyn Su
Carolyn Su is the creator of the Instagram platform, @DiverseWeRun, where she writes weekly features to amplify runners who are Black, Indigenous, or Persons of Color, and to advocate for racial representation, equity, and inclusion in the running community. Her activism in running stems from her love of the sport, and from her own, personal experience as a daughter of Chinese-immigrant parents.
Carolyn grew up in Houston, TX, straddling the expectations of two different cultures, while navigating the socio-racial impact of the Model Minority Myth. She now lives in the greater-Boston area, where she continues her advocacy through her social media platforms, active participation within her church, activism in her children’s schools, and collaboration with local running companies and BIPOC-led running groups. Her ultimate mission is to equip and empower all people to show up fully as themselves, in all aspects of life.
@DiverseWeRun has been featured on Runner’s World magazine (here and here), Outside magazine, Women’s Health magazine, and the Boston Globe. Carolyn has spoken at leadership summits about the intersection of race, representation & safety, and she is currently a part of the Running Industry Diversity Coalition, as well as a Runner’s World Safety Alliance Ambassador.
