Meet Lauren! Occupational Therapist & #Unstoppable Runner
Hello I’m Lauren (@breathedeeplyandsmile) and am excited to be a part of the Lily Trotters Unstoppable Squad. I currently call Baltimore, MD my home where I love running on the waterfront and exploring all the city has to offer (more so in non-pandemic times!) I love being a Lily Trotters Ambassador and am excited to share a little bit about how I love to rock my LT compression socks!
By day I’m an occupational therapist and during the rest of my time I love running, fitness (yoga & spinning are my favorites!), watching TV and recharging, trying new foods, snuggling my cat, exploring local breweries, and spending time in the sunshine. I love wearing bright colors to bring a little extra dose of happiness and fun to my workouts. That is why I love all the fun patterns and colors Lily Trotters socks are available in-for race day or every day!
Ever since I started running after college, it has brought me many fun experiences, adventures, and great races. I have had the pleasure of racing not only all over Maryland and the Northeast US but also in Las Vegas (the Rock n Roll Half Marathon), Vancouver (the Seawheeze Half Marathon), and Germany (the Berlin Marathon). I love wearing my compression socks post-race to help with my recovery as well as pre-race matching my compression socks to my race day outfit. Anything that is bright, colorful, and fun is my go-to!
Here’s a photo from a summer race at a local winery that starts and ends through a vineyard from a couple years ago (the race prizes are even bottles of wine from the winery!) This photo showcases the pieces of my go-to race day outfit including: Lily Trotters socks, my GPS watch and Road ID on my wrist, a bright & fun outfit, my hair in pig tails, and sunglasses.
What I love about Lily Trotters as a brand is that they are made with LIFE in mind. They stand up to tough workouts, are thin enough to fit in regular shoes, and comfortable enough to wear all day as you power through whatever life throws at you. I not only wear my socks during and after runs/workouts but also wear mine when I’m travelling and at work to reduce swelling and prevent blood clots in my legs.
I work as an occupational therapist on an acute care/orthopedic unit at a rehabilitation hospital assisting people perform their daily activities as safely and as independently as possible after a surgery, injury, or illness. I spend most of the day on my feet moving between the therapy gym and patient rooms so I love having my LT compression socks under my scrubs to support my legs and prevent swelling in my ankles and feet. It’s not a coincidence that all my post-surgical patients are wearing compression socks too (albeit less fun and colorful ones!)
My Lily Trotters socks are comfortable enough during the day that I forget I have them on!
