Small Business, Big Impact: Ideas for Where to Spend this Saturday!

As a small business ourselves, of course we have an interest in other companies who have started out with little more than a BIG idea and lots of pluck! This Saturday, we're giving special attention to those companies that not only offer carefully created and curated goods but that also commit to either sustainable environmental practices or social responsibility. Smart shopping made easy, right? Here's just a few of those we've been browsing!

Atelier Alienor: While it may be snowing and a hot mug of anything is our drink of choice, we can't help but drool over these espadrilles handmade in the south of France and begin to dream of light springtime breezes and warming summer sun. Not only are these gorgeous shoes meticulously made, but each step of production is weighed by high social and environmental standards. These are leather goods you can feel good about buying.

NaughtyGood Bites: Delectable chocolate with messages of validation and encouragement? Double yum!! The bakers behind these bon-bons are all about women embracing their "naughtiness"--being authentic to themselves, whatever society may say. Just take a look at each candy's name, and be inspired as you bite!

Minna: Revel in luxurious comfort, whatever room you're in, with these beautiful textiles. Collaboration with independent artisans and support for fair trade practices are cornerstones of the company's business philosophy. Just be careful which products you choose - you might find yourself inadvertently redecorating an entire room.

Liv: This company seeks to re-imagine the way bikes are designed with a focus on the unique demands of women's bodies. We love that it's a one-stop-shop with everything from fenders to footwear. Amp up your cross-training game when you discover a new passion for cycling.

Old Pine Candle Company: If you are looking for the fresh air smell from your morning run to stay with you all day long, you'll find it in these long-burning, soy wax candles from a home studio in the Rocky Mountains. You can feel good in knowing that the refreshing scents are produced by a company dedicated to environmental sustainability. Wrapping this up for someone else? Purchase the gift set that includes a minimalist match striker and candle coaster.

Blue Willow: If you haven't heard, we're big fans of all things recovery AND luxury AND women-owned brands. Recently featured in Forbes, Blue Willow delivers the healing benefits of botanicals and cbd through their body balms, bath soaks and more. While you're busy treating yourself, Blue Willow products work to restore your overworked body so you can recover quickly and get back to doing the things that you love. Bonus, Blue Willow's packaging is seriously beautiful. Just looking at their products should make you feel good -- using them, is even better!
