Special Delivery! Whitney's favorite gifts for the mom-to-be...

Do you have an expectant mama on your holiday gift list? Wondering what the perfect gift would be? Look no further! I've scoured the internet and chatted up some new or soon-to-be mom friends (not to mention, I was growing a human just a few years ago!) and the results are in! I have compiled, just for you, a list of 5 amazing gifts that any expectant woman will love.

1. Lily Trotters Compression Socks. It's no secret that I am a fan of this brand and their compression socks. Lily Trotters are the perfect remedy to rest and relieve those tired legs! Not only are these socks cute and stylish, they boast a number of health benefits as well. Compression socks help keep blood circulating in the lower legs, which can be an issue during pregnancy, especially during those final months. Compression can help reduce spider and varicose veins, as well as decrease swelling in the lower legs. These are great for wearing during a long day of travel, shopping, work, or just laying around on the couch (because growing a human is hard work!). Price: $48.00

2. Prenatal Massage & Pedicure. Any soon-to-be mama, whether it’s your first baby or your fifth, knows what a luxury it is to be pampered. Why not treat her to a relaxing prenatal massage? Be sure to look for a masseuse experienced in prenatal massage that knows to avoid the trigger points that can potentially induce labor. (I may or may not have first-hand experience going into labor hours after a prenatal massage!) A massage is a wonderful way to relax and ease any tensions and discomforts that pregnancy inevitably brings. A pedicure is a nice way to top off a day at the spa, because there’s a good chance that the mama-to-be can no longer see her toes to paint them herself! Price: varies depending on the spa, but $150-$200.

3. Pregnancy Body Pillow. This pillow may very well be a life saver to any pregnant woman you know. With pregnancy comes the awkwardness of trying to get into a comfortable sleeping position while navigating the beach ball that is your stomach. With a body pillow designed for pregnant women, you can relieve at least some of the discomfort, and only have to deal with adjusting one pillow instead of five! Save those sleepless nights for after baby's arrival! Price: $60.00.
    4. Earth Mama Organics Gift Set.

This line of teas, lotions, salves and sprays is a lifesaver for pregnant women, new mothers and their babies. Everything in this line is organic and I swore by several of their teas and salves as a new mother, particularly the Heartburn tea and the Natural Nipple Butter. They have great gift bundles for all stages of pregnancy, as well as for new mothers and babies. Price: $60.00.

    5. Belabumbum Pajamas. Who doesn’t want to slip into some soft, luxurious pajamas during the holidays? These pajamas are stylish as well as functional, as many of these pieces transition into nursing tanks and tops. Toss these on with a pair of your Lily Trotters compression socks, and you’re set for a day of comfort and relaxation. Price: varies by style

Know a mom who puts herself last, worries about her family and everyone around her before finally (and often never) finding some time to treat herself? Me, too. This mindset can start well before baby even arrives. Every pregnant mama is thinking about her new baby, but it’s important to remember to take care of the mama-to-be as well. After all, a healthy mom = a healthy baby!

Pregnancy is such an exciting time, but it can also be exhausting. Any expectant woman is going to love being pampered and feeling relaxed with any of the gifts listed above!

    Happy Holidays & Happy Shopping!

Any runner who says they have never been injured is either 1. #blessed or 2. a dirty liar. Even those who have never been injured have probably had to take a few days off due to illness or just life happening when you least expect it.

Unfortunately, any of these can wreak havoc on a runner’s training plan. If you are lucky, the disruption is fairly minor and only results in a few days off. In other circumstances, you lose weeks, months or even a year.

Yoga can benefit runners and non-runners alike in so many ways. You may think that the laid-back, peaceful aspects of yoga wouldn't necessarily mesh well with running -- but, yoga has a place in any runner's training plan. Here's why...
